Previously, court heard, armed with a large kitchen knife, Baker had attacked Mr Barton in Ryde.
It happened during the early hours of May 28, after a personal dispute.
Baker, 28, who denied murder and claimed self-defence, hurled boiling water over his victim, before twice plunging a blade into Tommy Barton's chest.
Tommy Barton staggered away from the scene, before dying in front of his father and members of the public.

Baker had denied stabbing Mr Barton in the chest and scalding him, instead arguing he had stabbed the victim’s legs.
A large kitchen knife was found tucked under a wheelie bin yards away from where the incident took place.
A prosecution expert determined the knife was likely to have been used to inflict the fatal wound.
CPS prosecutors successfully argued Baker's actions had gone beyond any reasonable expectation of self-defence.
Appearing for sentencing at Winchester Crown Court today (Tuesday, December 12), Baker was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 21 years.
A second man had also denied murder but, after the trial, was cleared of any involvement.
