An Isle of Wight charity has been left counting the cost after its community centre was damaged in a burglary.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary received a report that the Newchurch Recreation Ground Pavilion on Watery Lane was broken into.
Police believe the break in happened between 2.30pm on Wednesday (December 6) and 11.45am on Thursday (December 7).
A ride-on lawn mower was stolen from the community facility, run by the Newchurch Parish Sports and Community Association charity.
Damage has been caused to buildings and the perimeter fences, leaving the organisation potentially unable to fully support the needs of the facility's users.
A spokesperson for the charity told the County Press this is the second instance in as many months at the Pavilion.
Police have confirmed the incident is currently under investigation.
Anyone with information which could assist police in their enquiries should call 101 quoting reference 44230499743.
