A flood alert has been issued for Lukely Brook in Newport this evening (Thursday, December 7), with water levels high and still rising.
The Environment Agency has warned the river could burst its banks from Old Westminster Lane to Towngate Bridge (near Sainsbury's).
Surface water could flood into the road and affect the bottom of Castle Street.

With much of the rain having cleared the area, water levels have remained high, but began to fall at around 7.30pm.
