AN ISLE of Wight man was caught driving with two drugs in his system after indulging at a party and speeding past police.

Matthew Chatfield, of The Avenue, Totland Bay, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, November 21.

The 29-year-old admitted two counts of drug driving, in Totland, on September 24.

Prosecutor, Ann Smout, said Chatfield was spotted driving a red Mazda by police in an unmarked vehicle.

She said he shot past them at speed at around 8.45pm, testing positive for both cocaine and cannabis after being pulled over.

Nicholas Muir, defending, said Chatfield had no previous convictions and pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

He said he was a single, trained horticulturalist living with his parents who accepted taking drugs at a party a few days before and was fully co-operative with police.

Chatfield was disqualified from driving for 17 months and made subject of a 12-month community order, to include 40 hours of unpaid work.

He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge.
