A yellow weather warning has been issued by both local and national forecasters for the Isle of Wight amid expected ‘heavy downpours’ tomorrow morning (Tuesday, November 14).
Local forecaster IW Met Service has warned of heavy showers affecting the Island through the early hours of Tuesday morning, with some likely to become torrential with strong wind gusts, along with the risk of hail and the odd rumble of thunder.
Rainfall totals are said to be ‘highly variable’ across the Island, with some spots seeing as little as 3-5mm but other areas seeing totals as high as 20-30mm.
The IW Met Service says the ground is still very saturated across the majority of the Island, so just 15-20mm of rainfall can potentially lead to flooding.
The local forecaster's yellow weather warning is in place from 5am – 11am.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has put in place another yellow weather warning for thunderstorms, active from 5am to midday on Tuesday.
A band of ‘very squally’ showers is expected to push quickly east across the south, bringing sudden torrential downpours accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The Met Office warns gusts of winds around 40-50mph are also likely, as is hail.
