Drainage issues saw shoppers in an Isle of Wight town centre met with 'sewer water' earlier today (Sunday).
Water could be seen cascading down Shooters Hill and Cross Street, in Cowes.
Town councillor, and Cowes resident Cllr Phil Sanders, reported the leak to Southern Water.
He also contacted Island MP Bob Seely, who said workers have been 'prompted' and have been on site to inspect.
He said: "We’re checking with Southern Water to see if this is a question of volume of water, or if there is a leak or a misconnection.
"I've emailed their senior team on the Isle of Wight today to ask for diagnosis as to the problem and a proposed solution."
Residents of Cowes are being urged to report issues with drainage to Cllr Sanders on phill.sanders@outlook.com.
The County Press has contacted Southern Water for a comment.
