A FRESH flood alert has been issued for the isle of Wight this afternoon (Wednesday).
The latest alert is for Lukely Brook, from Carisbrooke to Newport.
A flood alert remains in effect for the Eastern Yar, and a flood warning is still active for Sandown, Brading and Bembridge.
The Isle of Wight Council has issued the following advise:
- Be prepared.
-
Flooding is possible in this area, however the Environment Agency has advised that the levels of the Brook are dropping and that property level flooding is not expected.
-
Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
-
Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
-
Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
Flood warning signs have been erected at a number of Isle of Wight locations this afternoon.
Island Roads says signs are in place at Parkhurst Road, Blackwater Shute, Morton Common, Merstone Lane, Havenstreet, and Chillerton Main Road.
“These roads are passable with care to most vehicles,” said a spokesperson for Island Roads.
“Do take additional care while out on the network in these conditions.”
