THE third edition of IW-Heroes Con is heading to Newport next year – and in anticipation of its return, organisers are running a unique competition.
It presents an opportunity for Island artists of any age to have their very own comic art published.
Caulkhead Comics is collaborating with Meridian 3 printers to publish a comic book which will be launched and on sale at IW-Heroes Con 3, on May 4, 2024.
All profits from comic sales will go to the Isle of Wight Young Carers charity YMCA.
Here is how you can get involved:
- Design a single-page story in comic form; an original design with original characters.
- Submit your single-page design to Iwheroescon@gmail.com with your name, age and a little bio about you and your comic art.
- This will need to be a PNG file. The comic will be standard American size (A4).
The closing date for submissions is March 1, 2024.
“There is no limit to how many times you can enter,” said event organiser, Nicky Symmonds.
“You are welcome to submit more than one idea, but please note we will be choosing 20 different people with a maximum of one page per winner.
“We will choose 20 of the best designs to become part of the finished comic book, and also invite all successful artists to be at the event for a special live comic book launch on stage.
“This is of course optional.
“We will also showcase all entries on our big screen at the event. Even if you miss out on getting into the comic book, your art will be on display.
“Each winner will receive a framed comic to take home. We cannot wait to see your creations.”
