AFTER a two-week break with players refreshed and injuries more or less healed, they may have to wait a little longer with Storm Ciaran set to batter the Isle of Wight and south coast in the coming few days.

The aptly-named Hurricanes have a double header at Chichester on Saturday.

In Counties 2 Hampshire, Sandown and Shanklin face Chichester's seconds full of confidence after demolishing visiting Fordingbridge.

The first team is "in reasonable shape", needing a victory on the road to keep pace with the leading pack.

However, they will be without brothers Jack and Luke Wedderkop, injured, and also missing the experienced Sam Flux and Luke Hunter.

Vice-captain Matt Miselbach will make a welcome return, but young winger George Finan, and previous fixture debutant, Beau Bridgeman, are out.

There is the potential for a debut in the backline, with young Josh Braham in the running after being registered over the past week.

In Counties 4B, Sandown's seconds, who narrowly lost to the league leaders last time out, face Chichester III.

The only notable absence from their line-up will be hooker, Joe Pettifer.

The new joint skippers, Ben Kulik and Jamie Dilk, are aiming to get some success on the road to reflect the team's quality and ability, having had some impressive recent results.

Isle of Wight RFC have a double header too against Christchurch at Wootton Rec.

In Counties 3, their firsts face a side with an almost identical record, sat a place below them.

Should the pitch be deemed playable, despite the poor forecast, IW are looking forward to two games against a club they have not previously faced — but who "have acquitted themselves well so far" this season.

Nick Blyth is unavailable, but Martin Newnham and brothers, Bradley and Aidan Martin, are back in the mix, along with South African, Jehane le Grange.

The seconds face Christchurch seconds in Counties 5 South.

All being well, struggling Ventnor host the league leaders, Fareham Heathens, at Watcombe Bottom in Counties 3.
