Train services on the Isle of Wight are still suspended in the wake of major flooding across parts of the Island.
Yesterday's (Wednesday) heavy rain saw the Island Line tracks blocked by water between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin.
In particular, the tracks by Monktonmead Brook and Ryde Esplanade were under several feet of water after more than 100mm of rain fell in parts of Ryde in under 24 hours, according to the IW Met Service.
South Western Railway, which operates Island Line, has since updated Islanders, saying the flooding has caused some significant damage to its infrastructure.
A spokesperson for the train operators said: "Engineers will need to carry out repairs to track and signalling at our Ryde Traincare Depot and in Ryde tunnel.
"We hope to have a timeframe for re-opening the Island Line soon, but in the meantime, buses will continue to replace trains between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin."
It is thought the disruption to service is expected to last until the end of Wednesday, November 1 but South Western Railway is continuing to investigate the situation.
Bus replacement services are also operating between Ryde Esplanade and Wootton for those trying to reach the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.
⏱️ We have now received another update and disruption to our services is now expected to last until the end of the day 01/11.
