Fancy a pint? A new craft ale bar on the Isle of Wight is a step closer.

The Island Life Craft Brewery is looking to open its first public location on Clarence Road in East Cowes.

A licence was approved earlier in the year for the craft ale brewery to serve alcohol but now it must clear the final hurdle in getting planning permission to officially open.

It currently operates from the back room of a house further down Clarence Road but is looking to expand into what used to be an old bric-a-brac store, the Old Curiosity Shop.

For it to open, permission needs to be granted by the Isle of Wight Council to turn it from retail use into an ale house.

The brewery's owner, Glenn Johnson, has previously said he would like to refit the shop space, featuring wood and exposed brick, with 'stylish' industrial lighting.

Environmental health officers have requested details of sound insulation works be submitted for the building, so residents in the flats above and near the bar are not disturbed.

You can view the plans, 23/01677/FUL, on the Isle of Wight Council's planning register. Comments can be submitted until November 17.
