A Conservative councillor has resigned from the Isle of Wight Council after six years.
The resignation of Gary Peace means a new representative will be required for Ventor and St Lawrence and that could mean a by-election.
Mr Peace was first elected to the authority in May 2017 and has represented Ventnor ever since.
Under the Conservative administration, the former Scotland Yard detective, was a cabinet member for digital transformation and community safety.
He helped the council respond to the Covid-19 outbreak when the pandemic first hit in 2020.
Mr Peace was a member of the Isle of Wight Council's harbour and licensing committees.
He has been contacted for comment.
Meanwhile, the council's Conservative group is in the process of electing a new leader, following Cllr Suzie Ellis's decision to step aside.
