A woman has been arrested after at least 20 vehicles were damaged with a 'baseball bat' in Niton this morning (Saturday, October 21).

Police were called shortly after 8.30am to reports that a woman was damaging several cars with a baseball bat on Chatfield Road in Niton.

A large police response attended and a 33-year-old woman from Niton was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

A spokesperson from the force said: "No injuries have been reported.

"20 vehicles have been reported as damaged at the current time."

The incident is said to have started on Chatfield Road, through Rectory Road, Church Street and down Blackgang Road.

Niton residents have reported that smashed glass from car windows litters the village's streets.
