A MAJOR road on the Isle of Wight is set to close in a couple of weeks’ time for carriageway works.
York Avenue in East Cowes will undergo maintenance work next month, between November 8 and November 28.
It’s East Cowes' busiest road, and back in 2021, works to rebuild and resurface it caused traffic chaos.
It is the main route for motorists looking to access the Red Funnel ferry terminal.

Island Roads says yellow advanced warning boards will be erected prior to works commencing, so drivers can plan accordingly.
A 24-hour road closure is required throughout the works for safety reasons, and vehicle access will be prohibited at all times within the area of works.
A spokesperson for Island Roads said: “Only when it is safe to do so, resident access will be maintained within the road closure extent outside of the area of works.
“Should you require your vehicle during the dates of work we would recommend parking in an alternative location.
“No Parking cones will be placed out the night prior to works commencing, and pedestrian access will be maintained with delays.
“Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.”
Further information, including details on diversions, to follow next week.
