THE three men arrested at an Isle of Wight port on suspicion of drug dealing after being rescued by the RNLI at sea, are still under investigation after the police released them from custody.
Officers were called by the Needles Coastguard on Saturday evening after the Yarmouth RNLI rescued Portsmouth-registered fishing boat, the Yvonne T.
Three men — a 40-year-old from Windsor, a 54-year-old from Gosport and a 40-year-old from Portsmouth — were arrested in Yarmouth on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
The boat was also seized, with police spending considerable time investigating the vessel, moored in Yarmouth.
All three have since been given police bail pending further investigation.
Police are yet to confirm whether they are linked to a massive National Crime Agency operation in which cocaine packages were recently washed up on Island beaches.
