A MET Office yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for the Isle of Wight – and comes into effect later this week.
The forecaster says there is a chance of heavy rainfall, on top of recent rain, which could lead to some disruption.
The warning goes live at 6am on Friday, October 20, and runs until 8pm.
The Met Office says:
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- Spray and flooding is likely to lead to difficult driving conditions and there is a small chance of some road closures
- Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays to or cancellations of public transport services
An IW Met Service weather alert for strong winds and heavy rain is already in effect from midday today (Wednesday), and runs until 8pm.
It warns of winds of between 40 to 50mph.
Rainfall of 20 to 25mm in some places, is also expected.
Forecaster Jamie Russell said: "A large area of rain will push across the area from the South during Wednesday afternoon."
