A group of 30 students from the Isle of Wight's Carisbrooke College, Medina College and The Island VI Form have set off on a trip of a lifetime to Vietnam.
Over ten days, they will travel from north to south, via key locations.
Teacher of Mandarin, Joe Briscoe, is leading the trip.
He said: "To complement their learning in the classroom, students will actually be able to live and breathe the places they've previously only studied.
"We will be exploring key locations from the Vietnam war that they've only read about in books, but just as importantly, each of them will find themselves immersed in a culture, a climate and a world that is very different to anything they've experienced before."
On the itinerary are Hanoi, along with exploring the DMZ, the cities of Hue and Hoi An, the Mekong river delta and Saigon.
