HALLOWEEN is fast approaching and if you love a good ghost story, a taste for the macabre and a fascination for Isle of Wight history, let Marc Tuckey take you on a journey into the dark and the mysterious.
Marc has been chilling the spines of Islanders and tourists for 29 years, peeling back the layers of local history in his inimitably dramatic Victorian-style, mixed with a pinch of 'Horrible Histories'-style black humour, under the guise of the popular Isle of Wight Ghost Experience.
His walks leave his guests fascinated and always on edge, with his dramatic stories of death and torture — with some horrific surprises thrown in that will leave the nerves frayed or induce blood-curdling screams.
Marc's Halloween programme kicks off with the Brading Walk, in partnership with The Bugle Inn — a two-course supper, followed by a ghost walk and stories — on Monday, October 23.
A visit to the tunnel and old Smuggling Museum at Ventnor Botanic Garden on Tuesday, October 24, then a one-course meal, short walk and talk at the Sportsman's Rest, Porchfield, on Wednesday October 25 will follow.
Face the fearsome Witchfinder General on a terrifying walk around Arreton Barns, with an option to get your own back on a friend or family member, on Thursday, October 26.
Marc's Evening Investigation at the Hare and Hounds, one of the Island's most haunted areas, will run from 7.30pm until late on Friday, October 27.
The area around Newchurch and Knighton — a notoriously ghostly and grisly part of the Island — will be the focus of Marc's Tea, Cake and Ghostly Going Ons, in partnership with The Pointer Inn in Newchurch, will be on Saturday, October 28.
Marc will escort only those with a strong constitution around Shanklin Old Village on the evening of Sunday, October 29.
A special Kids Walk will be run at Arreton Barns, during the day, followed by an evening event in Carisbrooke, on Monday, October 30.
Marc's ghost walks for children will be run at Arreton Barns by day, and Ventnor Botanic Garden by evening, on Halloween night, Tuesday, October 31.
There will be a storytelling evening at the Kingston Arms in Cowes on Wednesday, November 1, and a repeat of the Arreton Barns walk of October 26 the following evening, on November 2, to conclude Marc's busy programme.
