Former Isle of Wight MP and well-known GP, Peter Brand, has died at the age of 76.
The former Liberal Democrat politician died at his home in East Cowes, surrounded by his family, on September 22.
Mr Brand came second in the 1992 general election, but was eventually elected the Island's MP five years later in 1997, taking over from Barry Field.
He left the Commons in 2001, having lost his seat to Andrew Turner of the Conservative Party.
Prior to becoming MP, Mr Brand was a county councillor from 1984 to 1997.
As well as his career in politics, he was also a doctor and worked in Brading and Lake between 1977 and 2006.
He studied at Thornbury Grammar School and the University of Birmingham Medical School.
Mr Brand was a keen cook, sailor, singer, bridge-player and accomplished builder.
He is survived by his wife, Jane and two sons, Edmund and Jonathan.
A service of celebration of life is being held on Thursday, October 19.
It will take place at 12.30pm at St. James' Church, East Cowes.
