The Isle of Wight Literary Festival continues today (Saturday) and we have picked out five amazing events to try out.
1. The Captain’s Apprentice by Caroline Davison provides an insight into the world of Edwardian folk music and how it influence one of Britain’s greatest composers, Ralph Vaughan Williams. Virgil Philpott and Justin Smith will be singing the folk songs and James Longford will be at the piano.
2. Robert Thompson, probably the Isle of Wight’s best known chef, will be cooking up a storm at his morning session, giving you inspiration for the perfect dinner party using local ingredients. Another part of the Lit Feast thread.
3. The Garnett Girls is a well-received debut novel by Georgina Moore. Here she talks about her inspiration for her Isle of Wight-set book.
4. Top cookery writer Rosemary Shrager is a bit of a legend in the genre and the star of many a TV show will be putting on her apron and showing us how it’s done as a portion of Lit Feast.
5. Michael Morpurgo’s Tales from Shakespeare. Isle of Wight Literary Festival regular Michael will present his retelling of ten of the Bard’s greatest hits in what will provide a warm and funny introduction to Britain’s greatest playwright.
The festival continues until Sunday, primarily at Northwood House in Cowes.
There's a chance to meet the authors and have books signed.
You'll also find a book store and cafe for refreshments.
