THE overall winner favourite at the Wightlink-Island Renewables Hill Climb Championships on Sunday, Kev Chant, delivered.
More than 40 riders took on Wightlink-Wight Mountain (WWM) CRT's final event of the season.
The riders' combined times were the deciding factor on who would pick up the podium trophies and prizes.
Chant (WWM) finished his racing season with a well-earned overall winner trophy and a £50 voucher, courtesy of sponsors Wightlink and KReative Studios.
He also picked up the KOM DCUK Duck for being just two seconds out on his ‘guesstimate’ combined time of 7mins 18secs — 2.47 on climb A, and 4.31 on B.
However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for Chant, with Chris Till and Michael Hoare (both NAUT Cycling) nipping at his heels.
The women’s title was a close fought battle between Charis Jones (Wight Tri) and Nadia Lele (WLWM CRT), with the former winning by one second.
The junior riders provided some healthy competition, with Ewan Cook (WWM) continuing his winning streak and dominating the category by powering over both climbs in 7.37, a time good enough to take fifth overall.
Katie Bunn came out top of the Isle of Wight Triathlon girls.
Steve Taylor (NAUT Cycling), who has competed in every event this season in the Vet60+ category, added another win to his tally, while Tav Walker won the Vet40+ title.
Bob and Holly Stockton took on the climbs on a tandem and shaved a minute off their combined time from last year.
Wightlink-Wight Mountain CRT events raised £2,500 in aid of Mountbatten this season.
