The next production at Trinity Theatre, Cowes, is a classic from the 19th century that has been widely studied at schools and colleges over the decades.
A Doll’s House, by Henrik Ibsen, was first performed in 1879.
Set in a town in Norway, its focus is on Nora, and a woman’s place in her marriage and in society – a subject which caused a storm of outrage at the time.
The play is being staged by CAODS (Cowes Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society) at 7.30pm on Thursday, October 12, to Saturday, October 14, and ends with a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Sunday, October 15.
The theatre group says it has pulled out all the stops to create a unique and imaginative setting, devised by director Amanda Robertson.
Robertson said the play was intriguing in the way it reveals so much about the characters: "I studied it years ago and have always wanted to stage it. It’s gripping and very atmospheric, and although the story seems simple enough, you soon realise there is much more going on."
The cast features Rebecca Lennon as Nora, Kevin Wilson as her husband Torvald, Martyn Stanley as Dr Rank, Nessa Law as Kristine Linde, Philip Barker as Nils Krogstad, Anne Walpole as the Maid, and Carolyn Ferguson as the Nursemaid.
Tickets are £9 and can be booked on the link above.
