Bookings for an Isle of Wight holiday park quadrupled during one week last month (August).
Parkdean Resorts' Landguard Park in Shanklin saw a 292 per cent surge, between August 14 and 20, compared with the same week in 2022.
The firm said it was because families were leaving it later to book summer holidays, due to factors including concerns about the cost-of-living, the rising price of European holidays, and holiday cancellations.
Parkdean Resorts operates four parks on the Isle of Wight – Thorness Bay, Nodes Point, Landguard and Lower Hyde.
Searches for the Isle of Wight were trending upwards on Parkdean Resorts’ website in August and page views for operators' parks were up by 29 per cent of comparable four weeks in August 2022 and 2023.
Parkdean Resorts said it was positive news for the local economy, adding holidaymakers' spend was up 9 per cent year on year at is parks.
