A SHOPLIFTER has been jailed for a series of thefts both on the Isle of Wight and on the mainland.

Raymond Skelly, of no fixed abode, was jailed today (Monday) for thefts in Ryde, Southampton and Derbyshire.

The 45-year-old was arrested on Ryde High Street on Saturday, September 23.

Following police enquiries, he was charged with the following:

• Theft of £456.65 worth of goods from Co-op on Ryde High Street.

• Theft of £131.23 worth of meat from Waitrose in West Quay Shopping Centre, Southampton.

• Theft of £1,469.82 worth of goods from Boots on Station Road in Glossop, Derbyshire.

• Theft of two hand axes and a bottle of chainsaw oil from Wren Nest Retail in Glossop Brook Road, Glossop, Derbyshire.

Appearing at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court today, he admitted all of the offences and was jailed for 24 weeks.
