Everyone is invited to celebrate the green space of Appley Park in Ryde for Appley Day.

The event is being held on Sunday, October 1, from 11am to 3pm, and there are activities for the whole family.

Friends of Appley, supported by Ryde Town Council, Goodleaf Tree Climbing and Natural Enterprise are encouraging locals to get out and about in Appley Park with a day of things to do in the park and on the beach.

People are encouraged to take along a picnic and make a day of it. 

Appley Tower will be open for a chance to see inside the tower and find out more about the planned restoration work.

The Appley Tower Players will be performing Wish You Were Here, a new play about the tower, at 12pm and 2pm.

Guided walks will include a sea hike with the Island Sea Hiking Group, tree ID walk and an accessible amble along the sea front.

Wonderfell Theatre Company will entertain with their travelling tales at 12.30pm.

Try land art with New Carnival, and enter a sand art competition with Monkton Arts.

Ryde Rowing Club is holding an open day, and visitors can try the indoor rowing machines.

Ryde Town Council is offering free taster kayak and paddleboard sessions.

Other activities include wildlife information, tree climbing, Oakfield Primary School community hub, and activities with 2nd Ryde Sea Scouts and Cubs.

"Autumn is one of the best times in the park and we’d love to see as many people as possible enjoying the much-loved space.
