A kite surfer in difficulty led to a shout for Isle of Wight lifeboat volunteers this morning (Tuesday).
In windy conditions, the man had lost his board off Lepe Spit on the New Forest shore
Cowes RNLI was paged by HM Coastguard at around 10.50am.
Despite the conditions, crew quickly arrived at the scene, 400 yards off the spit.
They found a kite surfer had managed to self-recover to shore.
Once it was established that all was well with the man, the coastguard were informed and the lifeboat was stood down at 11.28am.
It returned to station at midday.
Lymington Coastguard Rescue Team was also called.
