THE Isle of Wight Classic Car Extravaganza kicks off this weekend, in memory of its late founder, Vic Gallucci.
A much-loved member of the Island community, Vic died back in May.
Held on Ryde Esplanade, the event, which sees vehicles from all over the UK and mainland Europe attending a two-day show, will go on in his honour.
Well-known Islander and chairman of the Newport Carnival Committee, Paddy McHugh, has taken the helm.
A record number of cars are expected as the event enters its 22nd year – some 500, including a Model T Ford which is more than 100 years old.
The show runs across the weekend and will raise money for MAD-Aid on the Saturday, and Mountbatten on the Sunday.
Ryde Veterans will have a stand on site, as will the IW Bus Museum.
The event is open to the public from 10am to 6pm, today and tomorrow.
Among the highlights will be police cars, including a 2014 dodge charger 5.7ltr v8 hemi, originally in service in Boston, a 2012 dodge charger 5.7ltr v8 hemi, originally in service in Monroe Township New Jersey, and a 2014 Ford Explorer, which comes from Miami Beach.
Visitors can also expect appearances from the Starways Crossplay team, and classic car expert and TV presenter Sarah Crabtree.
