ONE OF the most spectacular events on the Isle of Wight's summer calendar, Ryde Illuminated Carnival, is on tonight (Saturday) with no bad weather forecast to get in its way!
Following the huge disappointment of Ryde's main carnival being cancelled, due to the appalling weather of Thursday evening, a massive crowd is expected to line the route for the illuminated procession, which starts at 8.30pm.

Organisers said: "We're so excited for tonight's events and for all of our wonderful participants to showcase their illuminated carnival costumes, floats and performances.
"It's going to be a spectacular and colourful event!"
The circular route will take the procession from the Esplanade, up Dover Street, left onto Park Road and again onto High Street, joining Union Street and back onto the Esplanade.
For those who enjoy the spectacle, but not how loud it gets, carnival organisers have set up a dedicated 'quiet zone'.
"As we completely appreciate not everyone likes all of the noise, which comes along with a carnival, there will be a section on Dover Street — between Melville Street and Wood Street — where the music will be quieter," added organisers.
"This section will be signed with flags at both ends, with pink Quiet Zone logos above."
