AN ISLE of Wight man assaulted his teenage daughter, his sister and ex-partner on Ryde seafront while drunk and high on cocaine, then broke into his ex's Newport home and attacked her sister.
Shane Wareham, of no fixed address, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court for sentencing on Wednesday, August 30.
At an earlier hearing, the 38-year-old shed maker admitted two counts of domestic burglary and five of assault by beating, over two violent incidents this summer.
On May 28, on Ryde beach, where his ex-partner, Stacey Howarth, two of their four children and his sister, Heidi Wareham, were enjoying a day out, Wareham appeared, explained Harry Garside, prosecuting.
Wareham launched insults, demanded money for beer, pushed his ex over, and hurled his daughter's phone and shoes towards the sea then threw sun cream at her.
He then picked up his toddler son and walked off.
At the bus station, more violence flared, and members of the public, including a 16-year-old boy, intervened. Wareham tried to fight a seven-strong group, shouting obscenities.
Wareham was arrested and was bailed, not to go near his victims or his ex's home in Newport.
But on June 9, Wareham flouted it by forcing his way into Miss Howarth's home. Her sister, Sian Howarth, was there alone looking after dogs.
When she ordered him to leave, Wareham began damaging items including her phone, grabbed her wrist, punched her eye and punched her in the ribs.
A neighbour intervened and Wareham grabbed her, before he left.
For Wareham, Oliver Hirsch said his client had once been a responsible father and partner, until he became addicted to cocaine and stopped taking pills for his mental health problems.
Mr Hirsch said Wareham had shown genuine remorse.
When sentencing Wareham, the judge, Recorder Richard Stead, said his behaviour was appalling.
The judge handed Wareham 22 month's imprisonment, suspended for two years, with an obligation to comply with drug rehabilitation and building better relationships programmes.
He also issued a five-year restraining order not to contact Stacey Howarth or go to her Newport address.
