A popular Isle of Wight holiday park beer and music festival is taking place next weekend, aiming to raise much-needed funds for a local charity.
The Beer, Music, Poetry and More Beer Festival at the Waverley Holiday Park in East Cowes will see acts take to the stage from Friday evening and throughout Saturday and Sunday evenings (September 8–10).
As the name suggests, there will be a large number of guest beers and ciders available, profits from which will be donated to the IW Defibrillator group.
This year’s line-up will see headline performances from Island bands such as The Bohemians, Bexter, The Damien Paul Band, The Geckos, The Baggywrinkle Blues Band, Average Height Band and many more.
Spoken word artists such as Adam Gaterall and Superb Owl, who recently performed at Ventnor Fringe, will also take to the stage at Waverley Holiday Park.
Julian Adams from the Waverley Holiday Park said: “The Beer, Music, Poetry and More Beer Festival is our way of giving back to the community.
“Over the last 12 years, we have chosen different Island charities to benefit, and we are proud of our customers and the performers who have given up their time to support the event, enjoy some fantastic music and poetry and help us raise thousands of pounds each year for charity.”
Steve Read from the IW Wight Defibrillator group said: “We are very happy to have been chosen as the charity for this year’s Beer Music, Poetry and More Beer Festival.
“Having access to the defibrillators on the Island can mean the difference between living and dying.
“There are currently just 34 defib units on the Island, and it costs between £1000 to £3000 to install a new one and hundreds to maintain an existing unit. We are grateful for all of the support we continue to receive.”
Entrance is free, and the event is open to everyone, with no need to be a member or stay at Waverly Park to enjoy the festival.
