Six people had to be rescued after a vessel's machinery failed off The Needles yesterday (Thursday).
Yarmouth RNLI crew pagers sounded at 2.59pm.
A boat with machinery failure was 2.5 nautical miles west of the lighthouse.
The RNLI crew arrived by 3.31pm.
Once on scene, they decided to tow to the casualty back towards Yarmouth.
The RNLI Lifeboat 17-25 Eric and Susan Hiscock, Wanderer was met by Sea-Start 5 who then planned to tow the casualty vessel to Lymington Harbour.
Yarmouth RNLI returned to station and were marked as ready for service at 5.05pm
