A popular late-night takeaway at the heart of the Isle of Wight's nightlife scene could stay open even later under new plans.

Ephesus Pizza and Grill, on Newport High Street, is seeking permission to serve hungry revellers and those on their way home from a night out until 4am on Friday and Saturday.

Ramazan Kanial, on behalf of the food outlet, has asked the Isle of Wight Council to extend its late-night refreshment licence, for some of its busiest nights.

As part of its current licence, the takeaway — formerly the Pasha Grill — can serve food until midnight Sunday to Tuesday and until 1am Wednesday to Saturday.

While the rest of the week would stay the same, changes are proposed for Friday and Saturday, as well as New Year's Day, serving food for a further three hours, until 4am.

The takeaway sits in a hotspot in Newport, opposite Slug and Lettuce and The Hogshead, and near the Island's popular nightlife spots Fever and Boutique and Wyld.

It is proposed to have security at the takeaway from 1am.

You can view the application, 23/01248/LAPVAR, on the Isle of Wight Council's licensing register. Comments can be made until September 7.
