It's understood an incident which prompted a large, armed police response to East Cowes is drawing to a close after nearly five hours.
Police cordons, which have been in place for much of the evening, are expected to be lifted shortly.
A person who was in a flat has now left and is in the care of emergency crews.
The County Press has been told a number of weapons were involved.

Mainland and Isle of Wight police with riot shields entered the property, on York Avenue, a short while ago.
The incident unfolded at around 6pm.
The bottom of York Avenue was closed to the public and vehicles were unable to access the Red Funnel terminal for a time.
Businesses and residents were caught up in the cordon and the Co-operative was cleared by officers and closed.
Many drivers were unable to access their vehicles, within the cordon.
The County Press was told some people missed ferries, as a result.
Mainland police with 'extra skills' were drafted in and a police dog was also on scene.
Officers remained on the scene as of 10.45pm.
The County Press is expecting an official statement from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary in the morning (Tuesday).
