Armed police with riot shields are currently in East Cowes town centre - and cordons have been put up.
An incident is unfolding tonight (Monday).
The bottom of York Avenue is closed to the public.
As well as police from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is also at the scene.
More sirens can currently be heard.
The road to the floating bridge has now been cordoned off, so there is no access to cross the Medina, or access the Red Funnel terminal, at present.
