The Isle of Wight’s Cowes Carnival saw crowds fill the streets and an array of creative and eye-catching costumes yesterday evening (Saturday, August 19).

Hundreds lined the streets as Cowes Carnival returned after missing 2022, with this year’s event in memory of long-serving organiser Bob Hammond.
FaT Samba and Vectis Corps of Drums marching band got visitors dancing, bringing music to the seaport town.

Sandown and Shanklin Lions Club created a model of the PS Waverley, the world’s last sea-going paddle steamer, featuring steam pouring from its funnels!
Other floats, including from Ryde, Sandown, Shanklin, St Helens and Ventnor Carnival Associations, brought colour and energy.
Vectis Corps of Drums posted on Facebook: “As a band, we have taken part in Cowes carnival for many years, and when we got asked to take part in the Cowes Memorial Carnival for Bob Hammond, we couldn't say no
“Tonight, we played Highland Cathedral for Bob in his memory along the side of the road where his wife Lynn and family were watching the carnival.”
