An Isle of Wight paedophile who exchanged sexually explicit photos and videos with a 12-year-old girl on Snapchat will be sentenced next month (September).

Oliver Price, 29, of Oxford Street, Cowes, appeared before Isle of Wight Magistrates today (Tuesday, August 15), where he pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child, causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity and causing a child under 13 to watch/look at an image of sexual activity.

Lauren Stone, prosecuting, said Price added the child on Snapchat and engaged in conversation with her when she posted a story.

Ms Stone told the court Price knew the girl's age and told her he was 17 - in fact he was turning 27.

Between March 1, 2021 and April 15, 2021, Price sent images of him touching himself through his boxers and explicit videos.

During that time, he groomed his victim, court heard, initially making her feel bad for not responding and for failing to ask if she should reciprocate. In the end, she sent videos and photos.

He also complimented her looks, nicknamed her ‘naughty girl’ and sent videos of him committing a sexual act on himself, Ms Stone told the court.

When the girl's mother saw a conversation on her daughter's phone, she contacted Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.

Amy Hosell, defending, requested the case be sent to crown court, after a report.

A date has been set for September 13.
