The main road through Nettlestone has been closed this afternoon (Thursday, August 10) following a third burst water main in two months.
Eddington Road, just up from Caws Avenue, has been closed to allow for emergency works being carried out by Southern Water.
The utility company has told the County Press it aims to complete the repairs by the end of tomorrow (Friday).
It's almost a year to the day that a burst water main occurred in the same location, with engineers at the scene warning people to stay away due to the risk of collapse.
A spokesperson said: “To carry out this repair safely, we have had to close the road and have put in place a diversion for motorists.
“We’re sorry for the disruption this is causing drivers, residents and businesses, and we’re working as quickly as we can to complete the repair.”
In June, two burst mains in as many days (June 10 and 12), also on Eddington Road, left residents without water during one of the hottest periods of 2023 so far.
Thankfully, Southern Water has been informed that no one is experiencing water loss as a result of today's burst.
