An Isle of Wight ferry was taken over by pirates on Monday (7)... well, sort of.
Passengers travelling on the 11am Southampton to East Cowes Red Funnel crossing were in for a surprise when a troupe of historical ‘pirate’ reenactors boarded.
They were on their way to Carisbrooke Castle for English Heritage’s Pirates! event which takes place until Thursday, August 10.
They were spotted meeting passengers, enjoying the ferry’s facilities and even climbing up to the bridge to meet with the captain.
The event sees fights between history’s most famous pirates, tales of the high seas and live period music.
There are also demonstrations and hands-on activities for all the family to enjoy.
More information can be found on the English Heritage website.
