A YELLOW weather warning for strong winds has been issued for the Isle of Wight.
The warning comes from the IW Met Service, which says a strong, Atlantic storm system will push in from the west on Wednesday morning (August 2).
Local forecaster, Jamie Russell, for the service, is predicting severe gales and heavy rain.
Wind gusts of up to 50mph could develop quite widely, says Jamie, with gusts of up to 60mph in areas.
The warning goes live at 11am and runs until 8pm.
“While 60mph gusts would be of little consequence during the winter months, there are various events taking place this summer, and more people, so the risk of accidents or injuries is significantly higher,” said Jamie.
