An Isle of Wight Councillor has slammed the latest Floating Bridge chaos as "economically, a disaster for the Island," as Cowes Week 2023 gets underway.
Islanders and visitors found themselves trapped on terra firma today (Saturday), by the malfunctioning Floating Bridge.
Councillor Karl Love was on Ferry Road to direct potential passengers to the replacement launch, which is running from Trinity Pontoon, next to the Red Funnel marshalling yard.
"You can’t hide the fact it’s been a failure," said Cllr Love.

"The bridge is pretty awful," he added.
"Since it arrived in 2017 it has been nothing but trouble."
Cllr Love confirmed the Cowes to East Cowes chain ferry won’t be in action for three weeks and called the latest delay a disaster, because it coincides with Cowes Week 2023, "the most important week of the year."
Meanwhile, he praised its staff, who he said did an amazing job dealing with frustrated members of the public.
