Residents at a Cowes care home have been making wonderful memories with animals thanks to the generosity of the Isle of Wight community.
No matter how happy residents in a care home are, they often miss the interaction with their pets, so after a request went out on Facebook, some kind-hearted Islanders brought their pets to Old Charlton House.
The Island’s Trackadog team paid a visit to the home and demonstrated to the residents how they track particular scents.
The dogs created quite a stir on entry, as all the residents wanted to say hello, and the dogs were all very excitable too.
Residents were amazed by their tracking stills as the dogs found a range of scents hidden in the garden.
Sheree Guy brought in her Great Dane, and you could say he was a BIG hit!
It was his first time in a care home, and he was extremely gentle with the residents, allowing them to lavish their attention on him and feed him sausages - even trying to sit on one resident's lap!
Lesley Taylor brought in three of her guinea pigs, Eddie, Bluebell and Blackberry, for the residents to meet, stroke and cuddle.
Debbie Webb, activity coordinator at Old Charlton House, said: “We have been thrilled with the kindness of others in bringing joy to our residents.
“Now only have they given up their precious time to bring their pets in, but they have also promised to return in the future, which means our residents will get to have many more special experiences."
