MORE than £14,000 was raised at a popular event on the Isle of Wight last month – up from the previous year.
The Shorwell Midsummer Fair was a resounding success, especially given it had changed location for the first time in its 60-year history.
Held on June 24, the move to Wolverton Manor did not deter the crowd.
Visitors enjoyed the sunshine and entertainment, and the funds raised will be distributed within the local community during an AGM in September.
The Shorwell Midsummer Fair committee is keen to thank all its helpers, especially Jane and Mark Patterson, without whom the event would not have been such a success.
"A big thank you goes to every villager and organisation who helped set up, ran a stall, baked a cake, donated items and helped to clear away at the end," said organisers.
"We couldn’t run this event without you all.
"We need more volunteers next year, so please contact the committee now if you are able to help.
"See you next year."
