An Isle of Wight disability charity football team has received a prestigious award at their league’s end-of-season awards.

Johns Club fielded two football teams in the Eastleigh FC Foundation Community Trust Pan Football League, a specialist league for teams fielding disabled players.

The end-of-season awards ceremony saw the Johns Club teams awarded the prestigious Community Spirit Award, which is presented to teams that embody the spirit of disability football to the highest level.

Leanne Gander, team manager, said: “I am so proud of the teams, they put so much into the club, it is great to see them get some recognition.”

The team practices every Thursday night and makes regular trips across the Solent to take part in the league.

Next up, the teams are looking forward to competing in the Basingstoke Disability Tournament in early August.
