ISLAND Roads will be continuing its programme of work to refresh road markings across the Isle of Wight this week, in the area covering Godshill, Rookley, Niton and Chale.
The works, being done at night between 7.30pm and 6am, have so far caused little disruption to traffic, say Island Roads.
"This is a rolling programme of work, with only one location closed at any one time," the spokesperson added.
In Godshill, Newport Road will be shut between its junctions with Munsley Close and Godshill Bridleway 8B, and Shanklin Road, between its junctions with Whiteley Bank and Redhill Lane, at some point between this evening (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday).
The same will apply to the following roads from this evening (Monday) until Friday, July 7:
- Niton Road, Godshill, will be closed between its junctions with Beacon Alley and Roud Road.
- West Street, Godshill, along its entire length.
- Whitwell Road, Godshill, between its junctions with Beacon Alley and West Street.
- Niton Road, Rookley, between its junctions with Roud Road and Chequers Inn Road.
- Newport Road, Niton, between its junctions with Shinybricks Lane and Ford Farm Lane.
- Appleford Road, Chale, along its entire length.
"Road closures are only used at locations where we are unable to use other traffic management methods, such as temporary traffic lights, and are usually very short in duration, as we are able to open the road as soon as the new markings have dried," the Island Road spokesperson explained.
"As per other work in this programme — being carried out by our own staff — we would not expect these overnight works to cause any significant disruption.
"As always, we would like to thank residents in advance for their understanding."
