There were more offences at this year's Isle of Wight Festival than in 2022, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has revealed.

There was a substantial rise in drug offences this year – 11, up from four at the previous event.

In total, the force responded to 67 incidents this year, up from 35 in 2022.  

Among the offences police responded to were 12 assaults, five concerns for safety, 14 thefts and a single sexual assault.

Last year, officers responded to two rapes and three sexual assaults, among other offences.

Chief Inspector Tracy Scrase, who oversaw the policing operation at Isle of Wight Festival this year, said: “The dedicated policing operation at the Isle of Wight Festival this year was a success.

“We have a close, positive working relationship with the festival organisers and other partners on the Isle of Wight, in the lead up to and throughout the event.

“Our officers and staff were on-site providing a response to reported crimes and to deal with the small minority who were detained for offences.

"In addition, the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams have been out in force within the local community outside of the festival site, providing an increased presence and re-assurance to local residents and festivalgoers alike.
