The Isle of Wight Green Party has unanimously agreed that Vix Lowthion should run in Isle of Wight East, at the next general election.
It means she will not be running against the Island's current MP, Bob Seely, who will represent the Conservative Party in Isle of Wight West - a constituency expected to include East Cowes and Newport.
The Island is to be split in two, to make voting areas more even and the plans are expected to be finalised in the coming months.
It has also been revealed the Greens intend to field East Cowes town councillor and deputy mayor, Cameron Palin, against Mr Seely.
Mr Palin's candidacy must be agreed by the full membership, in an online vote next month, however.
Running for the Conservatives in Isle of Wight East will be leader of the Isle of Wight Council's Conservative group and Bembridge councillor, Joe Robertson.

Other parties have yet to finalise their selections.
The decision is a change from the Isle of Wight Green Party's initial 2022 announcement.
It says it is a response to the final proposals from the Boundary Commission, which has moved East Cowes into the West constituency.
Vix Lowthion is an experienced local campaigner and has been the national spokesperson for Education for the Green Party for the last seven years.
She works as a secondary school teacher and volunteers for a wide number of cultural, community and environmental groups.
She has been the Green parliamentary candidate since 2015, growing her support on the Isle of Wight to one of the largest amount of Green votes in the entire country and a national target candidate for the party.
Her priorities for the East constituency will include clean beaches, cultural and economic opportunities, and actions to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.
