A yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for the Isle of Wight overnight and into tomorrow morning (Tuesday).
IW Met Service says thundery showers with some longer spells of heavy rain will push up from the south during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Localised torrential downpours could lead to rainfall of around 20-33mm, and perhaps even as high as 40mm – all falling in the space of a few hours.
The local forecaster says the downpours will be localised, and some places may escape the heaviest of rainfall.
Localised flash flooding is expected in the usual prone locations, and leaves could be brought down by the heaviest downpours, leading to slippery road conditions.
Soil, silt and stones could wash across the Island’s roads and walkways, especially in rural parts, the IW Met Service warns.
The yellow alert is in place from Tuesday, June 20, from 1am to 9am.
