Work to fix an underground electrical fault continues by SSEN today on a busy Newport street.
A section of Pyle Street, between TK Maxx and Wyld, remains closed off to traffic.
Newport Fire Station crews were called to the scene yesterday (Thursday) after pedestrians became alarmed by noises of popping and crackling.
Smoke was emanating from a charred hole in the road.
Part of the road had to be dug up to access the fault, outside Newport Conservative Club.
