The fascinating steep and narrow walkway, Devil's Chimney in Bonchurch, will remain closed for months following land movement.
The rocky cliff face beloved of walkers has suffered damage after movement above and below the famous steps.
One of the Island's hidden treasures, the attraction is popular with walkers and has a coveted 4.5 rating on TripAdvisor.
The section is closed off, and will remain so all summer.
Also closed is the walk from Shanklin to Bonchurch via Luccombe, due to ground movement.
Currently, part of Eastern Esplanade at Ventnor is closed due to deterioration of the seafront walkway.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council said: "The public footpath (V65C) within Devil’s Chimney is currently unsafe.
"Significant movement has occurred to the concrete steps and there has been a landslide at the top (western side).
"Landslip has also caused damage to a set of timber steps on the path to the south of the chimney section.
"We will be securing geotechnical advice on conditions in the chimney section.
"The path is likely to be closed for at least a number of months whilst this advice is obtained and safe reopening can be considered.”
