AN ISLE of Wight couple were both caught with heroin during a police search of their home address.

Alan Tinsley and Leanne Sadler, of Union Street, Ryde, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, May 30.

Tinsley, 38, admitted possession of heroin and cannabis, on February 13 of this year, while Sadler, 54, admitted a single charge of possession of heroin on the same date.

Prosecutor, Ann Smout, told the court police had stopped a car being driven by Tinsley.

Inside a small bag, plastic wraps containing suspected drugs were discovered and Tinsley was arrested.

During a search of his home address, officers found Sadler and she too was detained.

Ms Smout said there was no evidence to suggest the pair were concerned in the supply of drugs.

Jim Osborne, defending, said they had the drugs for personal use.

He said Tinsley had been on drugs for a number of years and became sick and ill when he tried to quit, while Sadler had been more successful in her rehab and clean for five weeks.

He said the latter was helping the former with his addiction and it was a sad state of affairs.

They were both fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge.
